Hybrid working with Microsoft 365

Table of Contents

Now that the children are back to school, and legal restrictions for covid have been lifted, some businesses are seeing a return to normal. However, many international businesses are yet to return to the office full-time, and having navigated a work from home environment, many businesses and employees are choosing to embrace a new way of working with either a fully remote set-up or adopting a hybrid model of working.

According to Indeed, job posts offering remote working have increased by 180% – showing that remote and hybrid working may be here to stay.

We’ve all navigated the “temporary” lockdown measures through necessity, but if your business is choosing to stay remote, or you will offer employees the option and flexibility of combining the world of work with that of home, do you plan on making more permanent changes to the technology you’re using?

The immediacy of working from home back in March 2020 meant we all had to adapt, but did your business do enough to lead you successfully into a permanent transition to work-from-home or hybrid?

If you’re already a Microsoft 365 user, the good news is you already have all the tools you need to achieve remote or hybrid working successfully, you just need to use these features to their full potential.

Collaborate

Whether you need to collaborate with a colleague, or as a team, Microsoft 365 gives you the power to seamlessly achieve this. You can share files and edit as you go, sharing with the team as a finished file once the job is done. Using Microsoft Teams you can organise files, attend meetings, make notes and digitally interact as if you were in a physical office space – message, video call, share links instead of printing documents, tag people into jobs, however you need to work as a team, this is a fantastic way to do so remotely.

Cloud-based back-up

Gone are the days of needing to do a back-up from the office network at the end of the day, when you save your files on Microsoft Teams or OneDrive, you have instant security and back-up; no fear of losing files and you can easily share internally or externally using a simple link – no need to download and upload bulky files!

Real-time interaction

Whether you and your colleague are in the same time zone or the other side of the world, you can both be editing a file at the same time, combine this with a Teams call and you are as effective as you would be in a physical meeting room.

Need to work on a presentation together in PowerPoint, or review targets and budgets in Excel? no problem, you’ll see changes as they are made. You can also use @mentions to get someone’s attention and you can see in real-time who is working in the file at the same time as you.

If you’re navigating a new way of working and need to refresh your knowledge of Microsoft 365 to make sure you’re getting the most from the product suite, do get in touch – we can offer 1:1 focus sessions, team training (online or in-person) and ongoing guidance and advice with our Learn IT sessions…. https://365trainingconsultants.co.uk/services/
